Strength. Dedication. Passion. Resilience: words that can be used to describe our work as fundraisers.
Morag Stewart possesses these qualities in spades, attributes honed through years as a disciplined dancer. Since then, she has transitioned her skills to philanthropy, culminating in her appointment as Senior Consultant with Global Philanthropic Canada in 2025.
“Welcome, Morag to Team Ontario!” shares Dora Boylen-Pabst, Vice President of Ontario. “Her depth of experience, particularly in the university sector, as well as her geographic location near Guelph, will allow us to better meet the growing demands for our services in that area, and beyond.”
Morag has over two decades of experience in philanthropy and is a dynamic leader in fundraising and donor engagement. As Director of Advancement at the Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) at the University of Guelph, she has spearheaded transformative fundraising initiatives, increasing major and planned giving revenue from $3 million to $15 million over five years. Her expertise in cultivating high-net-worth individuals and securing seven- and eight-figure gifts has been instrumental in advancing institutional priorities.
Her leadership is rooted in strategy, relationship-building, and an unwavering commitment to team development. She has successfully restructured fundraising teams, aligning talent with key opportunities to optimize philanthropic outcomes. She collaborates closely with senior university leadership, faculty, and volunteers to craft compelling funding cases that resonate with donors and drive long-term impact.
Prior to her tenure at OAC, Morag held leadership roles at Trillium Health Partners and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, consistently surpassing fundraising goals and fostering cultures of high performance. She is passionate about leveraging data-driven strategies, moves management, and equity-driven philanthropy to expand donor pipelines and inspire transformative giving.
A recipient of the President’s Award for Exemplary Staff Service and the Innovative Leadership Award, Morag is recognized for her ability to blend vision with execution. She holds a Master of Arts in Leadership Studies from the University of Guelph and actively contributes to her community as Vice-President of the East Wellington Family Health Team.
“I’m elated to welcome Morag to the mighty Ontario team of Global,” shares Guy Mallabone, CEO & President of Global Philanthropic Canada. “Her over 20 years of experience in raising money for healthcare, education, and social services will provide huge benefits to our clients as they seek to drive more money to their mission.”
“My decision to join Global is because the organization is fueled by years of igniting philanthropic impact,” offers Morag. “I’m thrilled to bring my energy and experience to empower even more organizations to make a real difference – let’s elevate our mission together!”
Starting in April, Morag offers non-profits a complimentary 30-minute session to assess effective solutions to your most pressing challenges.
