Appointed Senior Consultant in October, Greg Lichti joins the growing team of fundraising experts in the Ontario region. A leader with the experience and results that showcase his skillset, Greg has over 30 years of on-the-ground experience in team leadership, major and transformational gifts, legacy and annual giving. He is personable, collaborative, strategic, and results-oriented and specializes in building long-term, impactful relationships among donors and charities. He has unique experience working with physicians and other program staff to engage grateful recipients and align donor interests with charitable opportunities. He also has a proven track record in building a culture of philanthropy, securing large gifts and fostering enduring relationships that lead to sustained, renewed support.
The opportunity to build a culture of philanthropy for Canadian non-profits coast to coast to coast by joining Global as Senior Consultant was one that Greg could not pass up, sharing, “At the core of our work as fundraisers is helping organizations to build a culture of philanthropy, securing the largest gifts possible and fostering enduring relationships that lead to sustained, renewed support.”
Primarily working in healthcare settings both in the hospital and community realms, as Vice-President, Development at the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, he led the major gifts team and worked with senior leaders across the organization. Greg and his colleagues successfully secured over $400 million in major gift support for Princess Margaret’s world-leading cancer research and capital projects. At ACT, he led all aspects of annual and leadership giving, planned giving and recognition programs.
Greg works with charities, large and small, to assess challenges and opportunities and to develop optimal strategies that focus on securing increasing donor support. This includes discussions related to goal setting, pipeline development, identifying funding priorities, refining current programs and developing new campaigns. At the core of Greg’s approach is a focus on major gifts and planned giving. Through this emphasis on securing the largest gifts possible, Greg helps charities maximize their fundraising potential.
A critical hurdle for charities is recruiting and retaining leadership and major gift staff. Greg is passionate about coaching major gift leaders and staff and building expertise and confidence in strategic work with donors. He advises managers on how to engage and retain staff for the long term.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Greg to the Global professional community,” adds Guy Mallabone, CEO and President of Global Philanthropic Canada. “His fundraising expertise and experience, particularly in healthcare philanthropy, will be significant benefit to our clients.”
“I am proud to have Greg join the Ontario Team of Senior Consultants, says Dora Boylen-Pabst, Vice President, Ontario. “Our tremendous bench strength in Hospital fundraising allows us to better serve Hospital Foundations of all sizes across the province.”
Greg contributes leadership to the philanthropic sector and community causes. He is a past board chair of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP), a founding member of the CAGP Foundation board, and a Friend of CAGP. Greg is a member of the board of Dignity Network Canada, a coalition of civil society organizations across Canada involved in supporting the human rights of people regardless of sexual orientation and gender identify globally. In addition, he is an active volunteer with a number of other civic, political and neighbourhood initiatives.
Starting in November, Greg offers non-profits a complimentary 30-minute session to assess effective solutions to their most pressing challenges.
