Deborah Barton is a leader, a doer, a strategist, an advisor and a passionate volunteer. Amassing over three decades of on-the-ground fundraising knowledge, we would be remiss if we did not advise you to consider making her part of your 2025 plan to take your organization to new heights.
Based in Stratford, Ontario, Deborah joins Global Philanthropic Canada as Senior Consultant effective February 1st, 2025. She has accumulated 36 years of fundraising expertise and raised an astonishing $75 million for organizations including the Canadian Diabetes Association (now Diabetes Canada), Alzheimer Society, Canadian Cancer Society, Children’s Health Foundation, KidsAbility Foundation, Grand River Hospital Foundation and the London Children’s Museum.
“For the past few years, I’ve admired this dynamic group of fundraising professionals—a team bursting with talent, passion, and heart,” shares Deborah. “Global is deeply committed not only to elevating mission and vision but also to the impact through generosity that helps make the world a better place. I’m excited to join this extraordinary team and collaborate with inspiring organizations to make a meaningful difference across Canada.”
“I am so pleased to have Deborah joining our growing team in Ontario,” adds Dora Boylen-Pabst, Vice President of Ontario. “She will be a fantastic resource to clients across the province.”
A lifelong learner, Deborah is completing her Master’s degree in Philanthropy at Indiana University. She holds a certificate in Canadian Gift Planning from the Canadian Association of Gift Planners, a certificate in the Fundamentals of Managing Volunteers from Humber College and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). Highlights of her career include co-leading community engagement for a capital campaign for Canada’s first children’s museum in London, Ontario, and implementing legacy gift programs for causes that have transformed children’s healthcare. She also spent 15 years as a dedicated volunteer with the Stratford Festival of Canada.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Deborah to our team of Senior Consultants,” says Guy Mallabone, CEO & President of Global Philanthropic Canada. “Our clients will benefit from her blended mix of practical fundraising experience as a CFRE, and curiosity by elevating her educational credentials as a Master of Philanthropy candidate at Indiana’s Lilly School of Philanthropy.”
Starting in February, Deborah offers non-profits a complimentary 30-minute session to assess effective solutions to their most pressing challenges.
