Many in the Canadian philanthropic sector will recognize the influence that Denis Lalonde has had as a pillar in the community in Quebec and nationally. Already a celebrated leader and author, Denis is proud to join the Global Philanthropic Canada family as Senior Consultant. Living and working in Montreal, he has over twenty years of experience in communications and philanthropic management with a focus on the healthcare and higher education sectors.
“I’m very pleased to welcome Denis to the team, says Guy Mallabone, Global’s CEO & President. “I’ve known him for many years and recognize how fortunate our clients will be to have him focus his ethical and results-oriented approach to driving money to mission.”
In his early days, Denis worked in public relations before delving into the world of philanthropy. Speaking with him for a few minutes, you will immediately notice his talents and passion for communications and understand how his career has evolved leading him to executive-level positions. He led communications and research for the Université de Montréal during a major fundraising campaign, managed the Quebec office of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and, in 2010, he joined the Canadian Cancer Society as Director of Development before becoming Executive Director Quebec and Senior Vice President Canada. Most recently, Denis worked with Make-A-Wish as Strategic Advisor and Vice President of Development.
Denis is a Community Shift Fellow at the Richard Ivey School of Business with a Master of Organizational Communication, a diploma from the McGill Executive Institute and a degree in Human Resources Management.
Denis is engaged with associations such as the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education, the Association of Fundraising Professionals Quebec Chapter as past President, member of both the Advisory Board of Imagine Canada and the Board with the Association of Fundraising Professionals International.
“I am so proud to join an expansive group of professionals and to share my experience alongside individuals and organizations that are so important to our society at large,” says Denis.
Jean-Nicholas Marziali, Vice President Quebec adds, “We are happy to welcome Denis to the growing team of Senior Consultants based in Quebec. He is a wealth of knowledge of philanthropic management and the sector’s challenges and is renowned for managing successful teams.”
Beginning in October, Denis offers complimentary 30-minute consultations to individuals and clients on the VirtuallyGlobal® platform. You can access Denis’ full profile and contact information here.
