A passionate advocate for Reconciliation between Indigenous and Settler communities, Global Philanthropic Canada is pleased to welcome Jeanette Doucet to the Atlantic Canadian team. Based in Nova Scotia, Jeanette is a proud Acadian from Cheticamp, fluent in both French and English. She joins the firm as Senior Consultant in May 2023 as a highly experienced fundraising professional specializing in convening groups for conversations to drive positive change.
Jeanette’s expertise lies in working collaboratively with Indigenous communities in Canada, particularly in the territorial North, dedicating over 20 years to this work. In addition to her work with Indigenous communities, Jeanette has extensive experience in sexual health education and information. She has held leadership positions at both local and national levels, where she has facilitated research and fostered collaboration in achieving positive results for community members. As Vice-Chair of the Ottawa Rape Crisis Centre (ORCC), she focuses on establishing governance structures, implementing financial strategies, and diversifying funding sources.
“I’m delighted to be joining Global Philanthropic Canada and to be working in the Atlantic region again,” says Jeanette. “I want to help communities reach their goals by sharing best practices I’ve learned over 25 years in the not-for-profit sector. I’ve been away from my native Nova Scotia for a long time. With Global, I have an opportunity to not only come back, but more importantly, to give back.”
“I’m thrilled to have Jeanette join the team and to have her Acadian roots added to our firm’s Canadian mosaic,” adds Guy Mallabone, CEO and President of Global Philanthropic Canada. “Her significant fundraising background and experience with Indigenous and northern communities and organizations will be welcomed by our clients.”
Brent Platt, Vice President Atlantic and Senior Consultant adds, “The addition of Jeanette in the Atlantic Canada region means we have a diverse, multi-faceted team of fundraising experts with a combined one hundred years of not-for-profit experience in the Atlantic region alone. We look forward to learning from Jeanette and sharing her exceptional expertise with our clients.”
Jeanette’s professional background showcases her commitment to fostering dialogue, promoting equity, and driving positive change in areas such as Indigenous rights, Reconciliation, and sexual health education. Her extensive experience and collaborative approach make her an asset in facilitating meaningful conversations and creating pathways for transformative outcomes.
