Because our work is national, bilingual communication is essential to how we serve clients and grow our impact. The successful candidate must be fluently bilingual in English and French, both written and verbal, and able to deliver high-quality communications in both official languages.

 

The Opportunity

Reporting to the President & CEO, the Marketing & Communications Director leads Global Philanthropic Canada’s national Marketing & Communications strategy, shaping how we are positioned and trusted across the nonprofit sector and beyond.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will guide a distinctive national brand and messaging platform, strengthen our reputation, and deliver integrated marketing & communications plans that support business development and long-term growth.

Working closely with Senior Consultants and leaders across Canada, you will ensure Global Philanthropic Canada’s story, value, and impact are communicated consistently and compellingly—in both English and French—at local, regional, and national levels. This role suits a strategic, hands-on leader who thrives in a values-driven, multi-stakeholder environment and knows how to translate expertise into influence.

 

What You Bring

We’re seeking a bilingual marketing & communications leader who is:

  • Fluently bilingual in English and French (written and verbal), with the ability to develop, edit, adapt, and deliver communications for national audiences in both languages.
  • Digitally fluent and audience-first, using social and digital channels to expand reach and engagement while supporting relationship-based growth.
  • Curious, bold, and future-focused, eager to apply emerging tools and ideas to advance impact.
  • Strategic and outcomes-driven, able to translate business priorities into measurable Messaging, Marketing & Communications plans.
  • A compelling storyteller, producing clear, persuasive content and presenting confidently in both official languages.
  • Brand- and reputation-minded, strengthening trust while evolving positioning for the future.
  • Collaborative and influential, able to build alignment nationwide.
  • Highly organized, balancing multiple priorities with precision and momentum.
  • Technically capable, with working knowledge of SEO, WordPress, digital marketing tools, basic design and photo-editing platforms.

Key Outcomes & Responsibilities

  • Institutional Positioning: Lead Global Philanthropic Canada’s national market position; articulate value, audiences, and competitive advantage in English and French; monitor trends and recommend strategic action.
  • Reputation Management: Set and track national benchmarks; gather stakeholder insight in both official languages; advise leadership on strengths, risks, and opportunities.
  • Strategic Marketing & Communications Leadership: Build and deliver an integrated national strategy; align bilingual activity across regions; steward brand standards, tools, and resources; lead internal/external communications in English and French.
  • Relationship Management: Develop strong internal and external partnerships nationwide; reinforce a cohesive, bilingual culture; coach senior leaders on effective Marketing & Communications; lead a national advisory team.
  • Business Development Support: Advance growth through persuasive bilingual communications, informed by client and market feedback.
  • Regional Support (Approx. 40%): Provide high-value support to Regional VPs, ensuring regional initiatives align with Global Philanthropic Canada’s national brand and bilingual goals.

Qualifications

  • Fluently bilingual in English and French, verbal and written (required).
  • Post-secondary degree required (master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of hands-on Marketing & Communications leadership experience.
  • Experience in complex, stakeholder-rich organizations.
  • Proven success developing and executing strong positioning for products/services.
  • Demonstrated ability to move offerings from concept to implementation.
  • Canadian citizenship and ability to travel nationally.
  • International experience considered an asset.

  • National website and platform leadership (English & French).
  • Digital strategy, analytics, and SEO.
  • Content creation and adaptation: blogs, podcasts, video, testimonials, collateral (bilingual).
  • Brand stewardship: bilingual style guide, templates, visual asset libraries.
  • Conference presence, direct mail, and national campaign coordination.
  • Regional Marketing & Communications support for consultants and VPs.
  • Budget ownership and annual Marketing & Communications planning.
  • Partner and co-branded communications in both official languages.
  • Onboarding new consultants into Marketing & Communications standards and bilingual tools
