The Opportunity

The Director, Business Development & Consultant Support plays a pivotal leadership role in advancing Global Philanthropic Canada’s strategic revenue growth and consultant success.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this role bridges high-level business development strategy with hands-on, elevated support for Senior Consultants. The Director enables consultants to succeed in their personalized business development plans, strengthens proposal development and response protocols, supports market research, and helps translate organizational vision into measurable growth.

This role is ideal for a strategic, relationship-driven leader who understands consulting environments, excels at complex proposals, and enjoys empowering senior professionals to perform at their best.

Key Outcomes & Responsibilities

Business Development & Strategy

  • Enable Senior Consultants to execute effective, personalized business development plans that drive revenue and growth
  • Identify and advance new client opportunities, partnerships, and priority markets
  • Partner with the CEO, COO, and Executive Leadership Team to align growth initiatives with corporate strategy
  • Lead and support client acquisition efforts, including complex proposals and RFP responses
  • Strengthen the organization’s value proposition and go-to-market approach based on market insights

Senior Consultant Support

  • Provide premium strategic support to Senior Consultants on business development and client strategy
  • Serve as a trusted internal advisor on proposals, positioning, and business development challenges
  • Ensure consultants have the tools, resources, and systems needed to succeed

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with leadership, consultants, operations, and marketing to align and execute business development initiatives
  • Support regional and individual growth efforts while ensuring financial soundness and ROI

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, or a related field (required)

Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in business development, sales, or consulting
  • Minimum 3 years in a leadership, manager, or director-level role
  • Demonstrated success growing revenue, expanding market presence, and building strategic partnerships
  • Experience supporting consulting teams and managing complex, high-value proposals
  • Strong understanding of consulting environments, client needs, and market dynamics
  • Proven experience writing complex proposals and RFP responses
  • Familiarity with the charitable and nonprofit sector, including vendor and advisory marketplaces

Skills & Attributes

  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire senior professionals nationally
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including high-stakes presentations and pitches
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate opportunity into actionable plans
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Solid business acumen, including financial modeling, ROI analysis, and forecasting
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and project management tools
  • Bilingual (English/French) preferred

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive compensation: $86,400 annually, commensurate with experience
