Joining Global in 2016, John pioneered major gift fundraising in Canada’s independent schools. His single-minded focus on major gift philanthropy and Board development has attracted significant resources to organizations.
John’s passion is attracting funding to schools so that extremely bright students who would otherwise be unable to attend can receive an outstanding education, setting them on the path to a world of opportunity. He believes that a school benefits when its school population is diverse.
John has worked with many of Canada’s most influential private schools including St. Michael’s University School, York House School, Bishop Strachan School, The Study and Strathcona Tweedsmuir School and Balmoral Hall.
John has extensive international development experience, particularly in China. He is a recipient of the prestigious CAISAP Heaman Award for his contributions to philanthropy in Canada and is a Past President of Vancouver Island AFP. John is honoured to be a Board Member with the Garth Homer Foundation and the Garth Homer Society, both located in Victoria, British Columbia.
He is bilingual in English and Welsh.
Fun fact: John is a specialist orchid grower.
