Toronto-based Consultant, Shani Eribo Joins Global Leading with a Focus on Grant Making Foundations

Shani Eribo, a multiple award-winning fundraising professional joins Global Philanthropic Canada with over thirteen years’ of experience conducting research, crafting compelling narratives, and establishing funding partnerships that have inspired meaningful philanthropic engagements and enhanced social impact across 3 continents: Europe, Africa, and North America. Shani is passionate about co-creating resource mobilization strategies that assure greater degrees of financial autonomy and sustainability for charitable organizations. He is also keen on supporting non-profits in achieving increased efficiencies through the adoption of digital tools and technologies.

“Global is distinguished by its collaborative approach to supporting charities in scaling fundraising and impact across Canada,” shares Shani. “I’m excited to be part of the team servicing the Ontario region, and beyond.”

Dora Boylen-Pabst, Vice President, Ontario with Global adds, “Shani couldn’t have joined Global at a better time! His interest and ability when it comes to systemic research in the philanthropic sector, and his experience and connections within the private foundation world, as well as in social enterprise, come at a time, post-pandemic when charities are looking at new ways to augment their revenue generating capacity and knowledge.”

Noted for his ability to focus on small tasks whilst keeping an eye on the bigger picture, he is a naturally enterprising individual with a track record of leading from the front and showing that things can be done. He began his fundraising career in 2011 with HomeFundraising UK leading rotating multicultural teams on Door2Door regular giving campaigns across the entire Northeast of Scotland on behalf of charities including Oxfam and Marie Curie Cancer Care. He won several personal and team awards including ‘Charity Champions for Oxfam’ in that role. Between 2013 to 2022 he held progressively responsible roles driving individual, corporate, institutional, and major gift fundraising for organisations including ActionAid, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, GreenSquareMetre, and the Association for Research on Civil Society in Africa, with cumulative fundraising topping well over $5M.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Shani to the Global family,” shares Guy Mallabone, CEO & President of Global Philanthropic Canada. “His deep understanding of the non-profit sector and international experience will hugely benefit our clients.”

Since January 2023, Shani has been interviewing Canada’s social purpose sector leaders including leaders of some of Canada’s largest grant making foundations as part of several research projects he has been involved with in connection with his Philanthropy & Nonprofit Leadership (MPNL) graduate studies at Carleton University.

He received both the 2023 Dr Tessa Hebb Fellowship in Social Innovation and the Emerging Black Fundraising Professionals Awards on the MPNL program which he completed in December 2023 , and also holds a MSc in Corporate Communications & Public Affairs from the Robert Gordon University in Scotland.
